Find Out About NHS Dentistry At Your Local Acton Dentist
We Offer Both Private & NHS Services….
In 2006 the NHS introduced a new contract which placed some restrictions on NHS dentistry. However, it is still available at many dental surgeries, including our surgery in Acton.
Acton Vale Dentists is passionate about providing patients with affordable, professional and convenient cosmetic and general dentistry, which is why we offer high quality private dental services, and accessible NHS dentistry.
How Much Does NHS Dentistry Cost?
The amount that the NHS treatment in Acton costs, depends on the treatment you need. Our aim will always be to ensure you are offered the relevant treatment you need to maintain healthy teeth, mouth, and gums. The way NHS dentistry pricing works is in bands, where you only pay one charge for the band of treatment you are having, even if that involves multiple visits to the dentist. Current NHS dentistry band charges cost:
Band 1 – £20.60
This covers your examination, all diagnostics (X Ray etc), all advice and information and a scale to remove any plaque and tartar currently on your teeth.
Band 2 – £56.30
This includes everything in Band 1 and then includes treatments like fillings, some root canal work, gum care and extraction.
Band 3 – £244.30
This includes everything in Band 1 and 2 but also includes crowns, dentures, and bridges.
These clear bands ensure that you will always be charged fairly for your NHS dentistry in Acton. More importantly your dentist will always ensure you are aware of the band charge for your treatment before going ahead with any work, so you always feel informed and in control.
Who Is Entitled To NHS Dental Services?
NHS dental services are offered to any person in the UK with a British Passport, and anybody who qualifies as NHS Exempt.
Who Is Entitled To Be NHS Exempt?
An NHS Exempt person is:
- Under 18
- 18 and in full time education
- Pregnant
- Gave birth less than 12 months ago
- Free NHS dental services are also available to people on certain benefits (see our website for more information).
If I Am Entitled To NHS Services Am I Still Able To Have Private Dental Treatment?
You cannot mix NHS and private dental services as such, but you can have one or the other, or pay for additional services not covered by the NHS. For example you might have your checkup and diagnostics covered by the NHS band but then pay extra for a white filling, because cosmetic fillings are not covered by the NHS. Or you might pay private dentistry costs for cosmetic dentistry treatment like a smile makeover or teeth whitening alongside having general dentistry checkups under the NHS band. You can of course, choose for all your treatment to be private if you wish. Our helpful Acton Vale staff will always provide you with the information you need and we will never go ahead with any treatment without discussing the costs with you first.
